Golf, how it’s played and who is playing is more diverse than ever

Across the UK and Ireland, 40% of the adult population play golf or consume golf media at least once a year

11.4 million adults play non-traditional forms of golf. 4.9 million are playing on course.

Who is playing on the golf course?

A typical golfer who plays on a full or short course is more likely to be a younger/middle aged male. This group are much more likely to be big golf fans or watch, follow and keep up to date with the sport. This group mostly play on a full or short course at least once every 2-3 months.

Who is playing beyond the golf course?

Players who are not playing on a full or short course are very different. They are just as likely to be female as male, are younger and more diverse in terms of social background and ethnicity.
